Tranquil Trails Counselling and Therapy is a Canberra-based child and family service that focuses on improving relationships and functions in the family, reducing children and young people's behaviours of concern through positive behaviour support, play therapy, and family relationship counselling services.
If you have a child or young person with an NDIS plan and are looking for a therapist to get on board to prepare a positive behaviour support plan or to provide therapy or counselling sessions for the child or young person. This is the right place for you.
Parent Coaching and
Family Counselling
Through parent coaching and family counselling, I support you in exploring your upbringing and wellbeing and how these factors might interfere with your capacity to support your children. Through understanding your own journey, you can better tune in to your children's needs. Remember, you can never be perfect parents. It is all about being "good enough". My approach is non-judgemental, authentic and inclusive, with a combination of directive and person-centred modalities.
Therapy for
Children and Young people
I provide a combination of child-centred and structured play therapy for children from 4-12 years of age. I use a more cognitive-based approach in conjunction with play therapy for young people above 12 years of age.
In this space, children and young people are able to explore who they are and who they want to be, so they can process and integrate their unique experiences.
Couple Counselling
My couple therapy approach blends the proven techniques of the Gottman Method with the warmth of Emotionally Focused Therapy. Together, we'll work on building open communication, trust, and those oh-so-important conflict-solving skills. Whether you're facing conflicts, struggling with intimacy issues, or seeking to enhance your connection, I'm here to support you. Let's cultivate a relationship that's not just strong but also deeply fulfilling!
Children's behaviours are unique ways of communication. Here, we celebrate and embrace neurodiversity. My approach is grounded in understanding and respect for neurodiversity and recognising that each child's journey is beautifully unique.
Whether you or your child are on the autism spectrum or have ADHD, dyslexia, or any other neurodivergent trait, I will support you in exploring and understanding their needs so you can use a variety of tools to respond to their behaviours of concern. In behaviour support, I aim to improve the children's quality of life and minimise restrictive practices.
